Lovejoy Theatre Welcomes Tim Doyle!

Tim headshotLovejoy Theatre is pleased to welcome Tim Doyle to our theatre family!   Here is some info about our new Technical Director:

“My love for theatre began in middle school, in a production called, What’s Happening Hamlet, in which I got to play Hamlet. I was so pumped! I continued acting at Rowlett High School and into college at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, where I earned a BFA in Theatre Arts. It was at Midwestern that I began working as a technician as well and my love for technical theatre took form. After college, in 2004, I moved to Austin, Texas and joined a performing arts company called Yellow Tape Construction. During my five years as resident collaborator with YTC, I got the opportunity to help write, compose, conduct, direct, and perform original musicals, straight plays, and dance productions.

In 2010, my teaching career began at Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, TX, where I taught both performance and tech theatre. In that time, we produced several shows, including Proof, Fame, Dark of the Moon, Bus Stop, Little Shop of Horrors, Ardy Fafersin, Aida, and Storm in the Barn, which was selected to perform at the 2014 UIL One-Act Play State Meet. In 2014, I became the Head Theatre Director at McKinney North High School, and produced many shows including Rumors, The Addams Family, Check, Please, Hedda Gabler, Tartuffe, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Big Mary, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, and Western Hero, an original musical written in collaboration with my students.

I often spend summers working for Garland Summer Musicals as the Tech Director. We do two shows a summer, and I have helped produce 9 to 5, Peter Pan, Thoroughly Modern Millie, West Side Story, Crazy For You, Fiddler on the Roof, and Nice Work if You Can Get It. I have also worked as a professional pianist and still enjoy playing piano in my downtime. I currently live in Plano, have been married to my wife, Jennylind, for 8 years, and have 2 dogs, Luca Brasi and Vincent.”
